Naomi Vaughan discusses society's response to SRM on BBC Radio 4

Presenter Gaia Vince interviews IAGP Project Manager Dr Naomi Vaughan for BBC Radio 4's Frontiers programme. In dialogue with leading geoengineering researchers, the programme explores the technical feasibility, as well as the social, political and governance issues surrounding solar radiation management. Naomi discusses how IAGP public engagement research has shown that society generally prefers mitigation options over geoengineering options, because unlike geoengineering, mitigation is seen as dealing with the route cause of climate change. Also, the very realization that scientists are even considering SRM geoengineering seems to make the public take the need for mitigation more seriously.
